GLOSSARY
Less than Container Load (LCL)
The shipper can only book a portion of a container for the cargo they intend to ship.
What is Less than Container Load (LCL)?
When the shipper does not have enough cargo to fill out a whole container, they can book only a portion of the container and pay only for the space they use. This load will be combined with other LCL shipments to fill the container. When we speak about Less than Container Load (LCL), we usually talk about ocean freight shipments.
