Breakbulk shipping is a term used to describe the transport of cargo that does not fit into standard containers and are usually shipped by ocean.

What is breakbulk shipping?

This term is used when the cargo is loaded individually in big barrels, crates, boxes, bags or drums on the ship and is transported by sea to the destination. Some examples of breakbulk include:

  • Transport of equipment, components or vehicles
  • Transport of steel
  • Transport of bagged or sacked cargo
