DPD prohibited and restricted items for international shipping
Before booking an DPD international delivery, check the DPD list of prohibited and restricted items to make sure your package complies with both the carrier’s and the country’s regulations. To make things easier for you, we have compiled an updated list of items that are prohibited and restricted and cannot be sent using DPD.

RESTRICTED
DPD list of restricted items
Some items are restricted by DPD due to shipping regulations imposed by carriers and local laws. However, these items can still be transported under specific contracts. The complete list of DPD shipping restrictions depends on the shipment’s quantity and origin, transit, and destination countries. Examples include:
- Antiques
- Cut flowers or plants shipped without liquid
- Glass or any articles (or part of them) that are made of glass, porcelain, earthenware, or other similar materials
- Jewellery (including watches) with a value of up to 280 EUR
- Precious metals (including gold or silver items) with a value of up to 280 EUR
- Liquids up to 100 ml
- Works of art (paintings, statues, etc.)
Difference between DPD prohibited and restricted items
Certain items or articles are restricted by DPD, meaning they can only be shipped with a contract. The shipper must provide all the required documents and certifications to prove they can ship these goods and set the shipping conditions with the carrier.
Goods that are not allowed to be shipped under any circumstances, either by individuals or business users, are considered by DPD as prohibited items.
What happens if you ship prohibited items internationally with DPD
Shipments containing items prohibited by DPD are not covered by insurance. If a prohibited item is discovered by the carrier, your shipment may be retained or destroyed. Certain objects cannot be transported due to legal and safety reasons. Carriers, such as DPD and postal services, have strict guidelines and regulations regarding the transportation of certain items to ensure safety, security, and compliance with local and international laws.
As the shipper, you are solely responsible for ensuring that your shipment complies with all applicable regulations. The carrier retains the right to block your shipment at any stage of transit. Please note that no claims can be made for any delays or additional fees resulting from the retention or destruction of goods
DPD shipping restrictions based on countries
In addition to DPD’s own shipping restrictions, each parcel must also comply with the laws and regulations of the countries involved in the delivery process. This means that even if DPD accepts an item, it is important to verify if there are any specific regulations or restrictions in the origin and destination countries before shipping. Any required additional documents or fees will be communicated directly to you. To find out what you can ship with DPD on specific routes, use their digital tool to find out the list of restrictions organised per country.
