FAQ on Canada Post international parcel delivery services

Does Canada Post courier service deliver on Sundays or weekends in general?
No, Canada Post does not deliver mail or parcels on Saturdays or Sundays. They deliver mail from Monday to Friday only.
Additionally, they do not deliver mail on holidays such as Christmas Day or New Year's Day.
Until what time does Canada Post deliver? Do they have a cut-off time?
Canada Post delivery cut-off times depend on whether the shipment is commercial or private.
They deliver to business addresses from 9 am until 5 pm. Canada Post aims to deliver commercial mail by 5 pm in order to prevent late deliveries since most businesses close at that time.
On the other hand, they deliver private shipments from 9 am until as late until 8 pm, since it is more likely for people to be at home to receive their items in the evening.
What can I do if my parcel was delivered late by Canada Post?
If Canada Post delivers a parcel later than the expected date, you may qualify for a postage refund if you have a copy of the mailing receipt and if you used one of Canada Post's On-Time Delivery Guarantee services.
The claim can only be started by the sender, so if you were the recipient, you will have to ask the sender to submit the claim within 30 business days of the guaranteed delivery date.
Please note that Canada Post will not refund a late delivery if the shipment was delayed due to customs procedures.
Does Canada Post pick up parcels from home?
Although Canada Post does not provide home pick-up services for private customers, they do offer business account holders the option of requesting parcel collection from their business address.
There is a $3.50 flat rate per pick-up (for an unlimited number of parcels). Pick-up is free for customers shipping parcels using Canada Post Priority and Priority Worldwide services. You can request pick-up online or by phone.
When you book courier services with Eurosender, courier collection from home is already included in the price!
Will Canada Post pick up mail from my mailbox?
Yes, if your items fit into the mailbox and if you have paid postage, the Canada Post courier should perform the collection according to the schedule written on the mailbox.

Shipments addressed to a Canada PO box should contain the following information:
  • First line: Recipient
  • Second-last line: Post box number and station information
  • Last line: Municipality name, province or territory and postal code
If customers wish to include additional delivery information, it should appear under the first line (the recipient).
If shippers wish to include the civic address, it should appear above the second-last line (postal box number and station information).

Where can I find my Canada Post tracking number?
For domestic shipments within Canada (except for prepaid envelopes and labels), the tracking number consists of 16 numbers. You can find the tracking number on your receipt or the copy of the shipping label.

Where does Canada Post leave packages for delivery?
Canada Post tries to deliver your parcels directly to you. If they miss you for whatever reason, they may leave the parcel in a safe place at your location, known as a "safe drop", and leave you a notification.
They will only safe drop it if there is a place such as a porch to shelter the parcel from the weather and hide it from passers-by.
The Canada Post courier may also safe drop it if the shipment does not require a signature or additional payment. The idea is to save you a trip to the post office to collect your item.
