Sending SIM cards via courier and post – Can you do it?

Can I ship a SIM card domestically or abroad?
Unfortunately, individuals are not allowed to send SIM cards via courier or by post, since these items are considered restricted by most couriers.
For businesses and telecommunication companies these rules are different and they can have specific deals with courier companies to send SIM cards.
Why are SIM cards considered restricted items?
The main reason why SIM cards are on the list of restricted items is that they could be misdelivered to another address or person. If there is a failed delivery attempt or the shipment ends up in the “wrong” hands, it may be misused.
For this reason, individuals can’t send SIM cards via courier.
Can I ship a SIM card internationally via courier?
If you send SIM cards across borders with DHL, FedEx, DPD or any other courier company, your shipment may be stopped at customs and returned to the sender.
Furthermore, couriers may also refuse to collect or to transport a parcel that contains prohibited or restricted items.

Sending SIM cards by post
If you are sending SIM cards on a national level, you may be able to send your shipment to another address; however, the same rule as international shipments apply. Your shipment may be sent back once the content is discovered.
Packing a SIM card for send it via courier
Due to their dimensions, SIM cards are easy to pack but require also some care to avoid them getting lost. If you choose to send a SIM card, even though is not allowed, we suggest you to:
- Put the SIM card in a Ziplock bag or a small bag.
- If you are sending other items, pack them with bubble wrap.
- Insert the SIM card in an envelope or use a small box if you are sending more items.
- Close the envelope or box.
